YORKSHIRE COMPANIES PLACE THEMSELVES AT THE FOREFRONT OF A GLOBAL REVOLUTION

Several companies from across Yorkshire have been amongst the first in Europe to partner with LETS (Leading Edge Technology Solutions) and take advantage of cutting-edge interactive 3D technology that is re-shaping the business world.

LETS, is operating from the newly created £4million European Interactive Visualisation Research Centre in High Melton, Doncaster, providing access to leading-edge, interactive 3D technology and expertise, previously the sole preserve of giant global corporations such as Boeing and Lexus.

The technology can be utilised to cut costs, enhance communication and improve speed to market in all areas of operation from product development, manufacturing and research to sales, marketing and customer relations.

Firms based in South Yorkshire can utilise support from LETS at a heavily discounted rate thanks to support from Objective 1, the EU’s regeneration fund for the region.

Current LETS projects underway or completed for organisations in the region include:

  • An interactive 3D “fly-through” of a new residential development for a firm of architects

  • An interactive 3D website for a printing firm.

  • An interactive 3D website for a locksmith manufacturer including demonstrations of locking mechanisms

  • A 3D demonstration of a new product for trade show exhibition launches in the UK and Europe

  • An interactive 3D demonstration of non-invasive cosmetic laser surgery

  • An interactive 3D fly-though of new facilities at a private school.

  • A mouth-wateringly real interactive 3D website for a food manufacturer.

  • An interactive 3D fly-though for a major hotel group.

Paul Thorpe, Director of LETS, said: “Since we formally launched LETS a few months ago, we have been encouraged by the unanimously positive response from businesses across the region who have recognised the advantages this technology brings - not in five years time, but today.

“Without exception, the businesses we have dealt with have been amazed by the almost limitless ways in which this technology and the expertise of our team can benefit them. To date we have worked with firms as diverse as architects and industrial engineers, medical research and sales and marketing applications.

“In addition to our work with firms from Yorkshire we are also dealing with major organisations the rest of the UK and across Europe who have recognised the importance of LETS in delivering the most advanced 3D technology in the world, in a way that can be easily accessed and utilised by the business world.”

Thanks to financial support from the EU’s Objective 1 regeneration fund for South Yorkshire, LETS have opportunities for businesses within South Yorkshire to access the cutting edge technology at a heavily discounted rate until June 2008.
