LETS “A FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE” SAY ROTHERHAM CHAMBER MEMBERS

More than 30 Rotherham Chamber Member businesses visited the Doncaster-based LETS (Leading Edge Technology Solutions) project to view the latest innovations in interactive three-dimensional computer imaging.

The LETS project, which is backed by Objective 1 and American companies Eon Reality and VBrick, has been set up to help South Yorkshire businesses to take advantage of 3D imaging in product and built-environment design, prototyping, marketing and communication.

Rotherham Chamber visitors were given demonstrations of a wide range of photo-realistic 3D computer models including a tourist destination in Portugal accurate in every detail, interactive engineering designs, training aids, new housing and commercial developments – all of which were “freed from the computer screen” using ground-breaking virtual reality computer modeling.

“This is a fantastic experience which really has to be seen to be believed,” said Bob Langley of Rotherham Investment and Development Office. “It’s actually difficult to think of what kind of businesses couldn’t benefit from LETS.”

John Callaghan of Oaksworth Homes agreed.

“We service the self-build homes market and there is tremendous potential in LETS ability to help customers to see a house they have designed themselves in full 3D.”

Firms in Rotherham and the rest of South Yorkshire have until June 2008 to take advantage of discounts on LETS support. Projects for South Yorkshire companies are being undertaken at up to 50 per cent of their true commercial cost as a result of Objective 1 funding support.

LETS is part of the Digital Knowledge Exchange which has recently been announced as a strategic partner to the Rotherham YES! Providing 3D visualisation consultancy to what will be Europe’s largest leisure and tourism development
