ROTHERHAM BUSINESSES URGED TO TAKE SHARE OF OF £1MILLION 3D TECHNOLOGY BOOST
Businesses in Rotherham are being urged to take their share of £1million of European grant aid and take advantage of new interactive three-dimensional computer imaging which revolutionises product design, communication and marketing and dramatically cuts speed to market and product development costs.
The cash and in-kind support is available from the South Yorkshire LETS project (Leading Edge Technology Solutions) jointly funded by the EU’s Objective 1 programme and American companies Eon Technology and VBrick – world leaders in interactive 3D imaging and video-conferencing.
Rotherham’s Chamber of Commerce has set up a special demonstration of the new 3D computer modelling technology on March 21 and is calling on small and medium-sized businesses throughout the Rotherham area to attend. Details of the event are available on the Chamber website: www.rotherhamchamber.org.uk
The preview for Rotherham firms will be held at the £5million LETS European Interactive Visualisation and Research Centre in nearby Doncaster which is currently undertaking a variety of innovative three-dimensional computer modelling projects for South Yorkshire companies ranging from interactive 3D websites to interactive architectural and product designs.
“LETS’ technology really has to be seen to be believed and gives Rotherham’s small and medium-sized companies low-cost, local access to the kind of world-class technology advantages previously the sole preserve of major international corporations,” said LETS Director Paul Thorpe.
“In the past, cost has often been a key factor in preventing Rotherham firms adopting new technology applications,” continued Mr Thorpe. “But financial support from the EU means South Yorkshire companies are entitled to discounts of up to 50 per cent on true commercial costs. Budgets for several current projects start from just a few hundred pounds. LETS support is helping achieve savings and sales ranging from tens of thousands to several million pounds.”
